Center Overview

Collaborating Institution

World Center of Excellence Initiative

We have developed a two-photon excitation holographic microscope as a new optical microscope for visualization and manipulation of nerve cell activity in life science, and a high-speed 3D imaging system for visualization of life phenomena in 3D space, and have promoted interdisciplinary research in optics, life science, plant development, and information engineering. In Japan, we have collaborated with researchers at Universities such as Nagoya University, Kyoto Institute of Technology, Utsunomiya University Optics Education and Research Center, Osaka University, and the University of Electro-Communications, as well as research institutes such as the National Institute for Basic Biology, National Institute for Physiological Sciences, Institute for Molecular Science, RIKEN, and National Institute of Information and Communications Technology. In addition, we are collaborating with Nikon Solutions, Inc. and santec Corporation for the practical application of holographic microscopy.

We are also collaborating with overseas researchers at Sorbonne University (France), Universitat Jaume I (Spain), University of Connecticut (USA), Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (Israel), Universidad de Valencia (Spain), Australian National University (Australia), IIT Delhi (India), Alliance University (India), Fujian Normal University (China), National Taiwan University (Taiwan), National Changhua University of Education (Taiwan), Chouaib Doukkali University (Morocco), and others.
